Early Life

     The Unparalleled Indian Artist Raja Ravi Varma born to Ezhumavil -Neelakantan Bhattatripad and Uma Ambhabai Tampuratty on 29th April 1848 at Kilimanoor; hailed from a royal family of Travancore, Kerela. Having been brought up in a traditional environment, he had heard and studied the Hindu Epics of the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and the Puranas in detail. He started painting from very early years and was trained by his uncle Raja Raja Varma who was an artist of the Tanjore style.
